Reseller Hosting Acceptable Use Policy
Version 1.0. Last updated 1 August 2026.
This policy forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to our Reseller 20, Reseller 50 and Reseller 100 plans. The general prohibitions in clause 1 and 2 of our Web Hosting Acceptable Use Policy also apply here, at both account level and to every cPanel account you create for your own clients.
1. You are responsible for your clients
1.1 A reseller plan lets you create and manage cPanel accounts for your own clients under your own brand. You are the point of contact for your clients: we do not provide support directly to them, and any support request from a client of yours will be redirected back to you.
1.2 You are responsible for making sure your clients comply with this policy and with our general Web Hosting Acceptable Use Policy. A breach by one of your clients is treated as a breach by you.
1.3 You must have your own terms of service and acceptable use policy in place with your clients. We can suspend or terminate an individual client account under your reseller plan without terminating your whole account, where the problem is isolated to that account.
2. Resource limits
Total account limits (cPanel account count, storage and bandwidth) for each plan are published on our reseller hosting page. Each individual client cPanel account you create is subject to the following technical limits, regardless of how many client accounts your plan allows:
| Resource | Limit per client account |
|---|---|
| CPU cores | 2 |
| Memory | 2 GB |
| I/O throughput | 30 MB/s |
| IOPS | 1,024 |
| Concurrent processes | 100 |
Where your plan advertises unlimited storage or bandwidth, that means we do not cap it at a fixed figure across your client base, not that any single client account is exempt from the limits above, or that the allowance can be used for the prohibited purposes in clause 3.
3. Overselling and fair use
3.1 You may oversell storage and bandwidth to your clients at your own commercial discretion. Doing so does not change the underlying per-account technical limits in clause 2, which apply regardless of what you have promised a client.
3.2 If your total resource usage across all client accounts starts to affect the stability of the server for other resellers, we will contact you first and work with you to bring it back under control before considering any restriction.
4. Prohibited uses
In addition to the prohibitions in clause 2 of our Web Hosting Acceptable Use Policy, no cPanel account on a reseller plan, whether yours or a client’s, may be used for:
- peer-to-peer file sharing, BitTorrent trackers or clients
- personal cloud or file-sync software, such as a self-hosted Nextcloud or ownCloud instance
- use as a mirror site or content delivery network
- Tor nodes, relays or exit points
- bulk archival or data-warehousing storage unrelated to a live website
5. White label and branding
5.1 Your reseller plan includes custom branding, private nameservers and unbranded support escalation. Your clients do not need to know which host is running underneath, and our support team will not disclose that to your clients without your permission.
5.2 If you resell or discount third party billing software such as WHMCS through your plan, that software is subject to its own separate licence terms, which you are responsible for agreeing to directly with its provider.
6. Backups and restoration
6.1 Backups run on the schedule published for your plan and are provided on a best efforts basis, per clause 11 of our Terms of Service. You are responsible for making sure your clients understand this, and for maintaining your own independent backups of anything business-critical.
6.2 Where you ask us to restore an account or file from backup outside the normal self-service restore in your panel, we may charge a restoration fee, which we will confirm with you before carrying out the work.
7. How we enforce this
We follow the same proportionate approach set out in section 7 of our Web Hosting Acceptable Use Policy. Because you manage your own clients, we will always try to work through you first, except where a client account is actively compromised, under attack, or causing immediate harm to other customers on the server, in which case we may suspend that individual account straight away and tell you why.
If you think we have got it wrong, email hello@hostingme.co.uk and we will review it.
